It was a muggy morning in the beginning of June when I was heading to my first Cape wedding of the season. I will say I’m definitely a bit biased towards Cape weddings because I personally just love being there. No matter where you go on the Cape it’s usually beautiful. When I first got there, I met Katherine for the first time in-person while she was getting her makeup done. The first thing you feel with Katherine is a genuine warmth and kindness. She kept making sure all of her friends were having fun and kept playing with the adorable dogs that were keeping everyone company that morning. A few of my favorite photos from the day are definitely the photos with her and the dogs.
From getting ready we went to the venue, Heritage Gardens and Museum, to do Katherine and James’ first look. By the way, this venue is absolutely stunning. Just beautiful greenery and flowers everyone. I think everywhere we went that day was just seriously stunning. For their first look we had to hide Katherine away in the woods, and then got James in place. When they saw each other for the first time that day, I have never seen a bigger smile than that on James’ face. He was absolutely ecstatic to see Katherine in her wedding dress and the two of them just shared sweet moments together.
Their first look ended by hearing some screams from a golf cart nearby and seeing their bridal party heading over to this carousel on the venue’s property. By far one of the cooler things I’ve seen on a wedding day. This entertaining bridal party had so much fun on the carousel and then again during the photos outside.
When we were heading over to the ceremony site, I was completely in awe of the ceremony site. It was in a beautiful open field with this metal sculptural fountain behind them. They started their ceremony with audio from the movie “The Princess Bride,” you know the one, the one about marriage that was completely apt for their wedding day. The whole ceremony was so personal and true to them. Katherine’s aunt, started reading an advice for marriage quote and then several friends and family stood up from their seats to each read a piece of advice. One of my favorite parts was when the two of them read their own personal vows. I feel like this ceremony really was a peek into who these two are, and their beautiful relationship. After a kiss and huge cheers from the audience, we quickly grabbed family portraits before it started to rain.
Their cocktail hour was filled with drinks, lawn games, photos in the classic cars (located in the auto museum at the venue) and fun. Their bridal party had an awesome entrance and then everyone was treated to some absolutely beautiful speeches by the Best Man (James’ older brother) and Maid of Honor. I will say that the Best Man speech really got me, he was so emotional talking about how much his brother means to him and how much he loves the two of them. It was definitely one of the best speeches I’ve heard from a Best Man.
After the dinner came the dancing, and because they practiced in front of me during sunset photos, I knew that Katherine and James’ first dance was going to be absolutely amazing. These two choreographed a dance and absolutely killed it, everyone was screaming with excitement. To top it off, Katherine and her dad also did a special dance to a mix of songs. That kicked off the dancing for the evening and then everyone danced the night away. It was such a fun, perfect wedding to kick off all of my June weddings. These two are such seriously kind and sweet souls, and I am so happy to have been a part of their wedding day. Congratulations again you two!
