Leading up to Maria and Kevin’s wedding we weren’t sure if the weather was going to cooperate or not, it was raining off and on all morning. So we really had no idea what the weather had in store for us. I came in to Maria’s family’s home to all of her bridesmaids and family so excited for the day. There was a ton of laughter and make up being done. After grabbing detail photos of her gorgeous shoes, I moved on to the her veil. This veil is incredibly special, as it is the veil that all of the women in her family wear. As you can see in the images below, this veil has the wedding date of each woman who has worn it sewn in a different color (one of the their wedding colors as well). This was such a beautiful heirloom that I had to grab several images of this. After a flurry of activity and a lot of laughter with her sisters getting Maria into her dress, we left for the church (which was right down the road).
Although it was a bit warm in the church that day, the ceremony was lovely and finished with Maria and Kevin grinning from ear to ear. You can see how happy they were immediately upon getting married and in the few quick photos we got right outside of the church. From there we headed over to the Wayside Inn Grist Mill, and though we weren’t expecting it, the sun actually came out. So we were able to grab some fun photos with their big bridal party around this beautiful area. After we finished with the bridal party we did some couple portraits of these two, and I just loved how Kevin kept making Maria laugh during portraits, it was so true to their relationship and show how at ease they are around each other.
When we got to their wedding reception venue, the sun was still out and we were able to get some sweet photos with their family and shortly after getting inside, it started down-pouring. We could not have planned it better if we tried. After intros, Maria and Kevin had a sweet first dance complete with tons of dramatics dips and twirls. We then were treated to a sweet and funny speech by Maria’s sisters and then one of the funniest best man speeches. Kevin’s best man, Adam, had given Maria and Kevin a questionnaire to fill out before the wedding day and each did not know what the other had written down. It was so hilarious to see how varied their answers were. The best one was a description of their best case scenario for traveling, in which Maria’s answer was a lot of planning and getting to the airport early, and Kevin’s answer was in packing the morning of and getting to the airport right before the flight. Though these two had different answers, his best man had the best way of wrapping up the speech by saying these two compromise better than anyone he knows and that’s how they work so well as a couple.
After these beautiful speeches, we got lucky and the downpour let up a little bit and we were able to get outside for a few sunset portraits, and in the best turn of weather we actually had a rainbow come out during their sunset portraits. I feel like it was such a sign for the day, a beautiful symbol for this beautiful and happy couple. Congratulations again Maria and Kevin, I absolutely loved working with you two!!
